Stayed home sick from work today, I’ve got this tooth infection that’s gotten pretty bad ;( my whole side of my face and roof of my mouth has been swollen up and now I feel all achey in my body. I thankfully convinced the dentist to prescribe me an antibiotic which I started taking last night, fingers crossed that everything goes well and I’ll feel better from taking it. The pills are really cute actually lol, they are pink on one side and purple on the other. So iconic.

I’m so frustrated that dental work is so costly and inconvenient. Insurance is always a problem, dental insurance in general never covers very much and the dental procedures are so expensive it’s insane! Like, you’re telling me it costs THAT much for a little composite resin, or a tiny piece of porcelain? Like I understand that there is some expensive machinery involved, and also that the skillset required to preform these procedures is a bit complex,,, but I digress, we should not have to suffer, dental treatment should be a basic right, the wellbeing of our teeth and mouthes is essential to living a comfortable and healthy life.

It’s not even that I take bad care of my teeth either, I floss regularly, I don’t drink soda for the most part, I don’t smoke, I brush twice a day with one of those electric spinny toothbrushes for at least two minutes each time. I oil pull and do saltwater rinses and use mouthwash. I don’t use whitening strips or anything like that. A dentist once told me that it was simply the shape of my teeth that makes me more prone to cavities.. So it’s a medical condition then, why does health insurance not cover these sorts of issues? Sure there’s dental insurance, but I could go on and on about how useless that feels when you need actual dental work done. I could go on an on about how much of a pain insurance in general can be. I’ll spare you that today..

I sincerely hope that I can get this tooth taken care of, that my infection will clear up from these antibiotics, that I’ll be able to get the root canal that I need, and then that I will be able to start working to fix my other teeth as well. I am more than ready to stop suffering the constant pain and general feeling of unwellness brought on by my dental problems.

Sorry this post is really just a rant.
